- 1 - Abstract: The invention provides aminonaphthacene derivatives of the formula: Image (I) wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a lower alkoxy group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, R3 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkanoyl group and R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group or a group of the formula. Image (II) wherein A is an alkylene group which may have one or more lower alkyl substituent(s) and R6 and R7 which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower hydroxyalkyl group or a lower aminoalkyl group; and acid addition salts thereof. These compounds are useful as anti-tumor agents.
