AMMUNITION STORAGE SYSTEM AND CONTAINER FOR USE THEREIN ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ammunition storage system includes a plurality of like containers each having two internal compartments for receiving two rounds of ammunition in side-by-side relation- ship, the upper and lower faces of each container being formed with complementary nesting elements permitting a plurality of like containers to be stacked in nested relationship and secured together to form a multi-layer honeycomb construction for a plurality of ammunition rounds. Each container is constructed with an outer rigid plastic housing, an inner liner for each compartment, and a cushioning body of foamed plastics material surrounding each of the liners.
