A free-flowing, amorphous paroxetine hydrochloride composition suitable as a therapeutic agent for premature ejaculation can be prepared by dissolving paroxetine free base in a hydrochloric acid-ethanol solution followed by drying. The present compositions comprise amorphous paroxetine hydrochloride and at least one hydroxyl-bearing compound. In one preferred embodiment, the hydroxyl-bearing compound is ethanol and the amount of ethanol present in the amorphous product is in the range of 1 to 4 weight percent based on paroxetine hydrochloride. The amorphous product is stable and substantially non- hygroscopic.
L'invention concerne une composition fluide de chlorhydrate de paroxétine amorphe convenant comme agent thérapeutique pour traiter l'éjaculation précoce, qui peut être préparée par dissolution d'une base libre de paroxétine dans une solution d'acide chlorhydrique-éthanol, suivie d'une étape de séchage. Les présentes compositions renferment du chlorhydrate de paroxétine amorphe et au moins un composé hydroxylé. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le composé hydroxylé est de l'éthanol, et la quantité d'éthanol présent dans le produit amorphe se situe entre 1 et 4 pour cent en poids du chlorhydrate de paroxétine. Le produit amorphe est stable et sensiblement non hygroscopique.
