ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Amphoteric amino sulfonate derivatives of epoxy resins having at least one terminal group of the forumula: Image wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen or methyl, R3 is hydrogen or C1-C20 alkyl or substituted alkyl, and R4 is C1-C6 alkylene or substituted alkylene, which are reaction products of an epoxy resin having a plurality of terminal groups of the formula: Image wherein R1 and R2 are as defined, with an amino sulfonate of the formula: 3-NH-R4-SO3M wherein R3 and R4 are as defined, and M is a cation.
