ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Write and/or read amplifier, which comprises first and second in- verting amplifiers equipped with insulated-gate field-effect transistors connected in cascade. The first inverting amplifier is shunted by a first switching unit and the input of the second inverting amplifier is connected to a point of constant voltage via a third switching unit, which third switching unit is controlled by the output voltage of the second inverting amplifier. The read process is performed during a two-phase cycle. During the first phase the first switching unit is in the conducting state, so that negative feedback is obtained, which is discontinued at the end of the first phase. A requirement for this is that the output voltage of the second in- verting amplifier keeps the third switching unit in the non-conducting state during the first phase. During the second phase an input signal is applied to the amplifier, so that depending on the input signal the output signal of the second inverting amplifier drives the third switching unit in the con- ducting or non-conducting state. In the case in which said third switching unit becomes conductive, the second inverting amplifier is driven into con- duction. A second switching unit is then made conductive, which unit con- nects the input of the amplifier arrangement to a point of constant voltage for restoring the input signal in this logic condition. In the logic condit- ion for which the third switching unit remains non-conducting, no signal restoration is effected.
