An acoustic reflector (10) suitable for use as a reflective target for navigational aids and for location and re-location applications. The acoustic reflector comprises a shell (12) arranged to surround a solid core (16) . The shell is adapted to transmit acoustic waves (18) incident thereon into the core (16) . Within the core the acoustic waves are focused before being reflected from an opposing side of the shell (20) to provide a reflected acoustic wave. A portion of the acoustic waves incident on the shell is coupled into the shell wall and guided within and around the circumference thereof (26) before being re-radiated and combining constructively with the reflected acoustic wave to provide an enhanced reflected acoustic wave.
L'invention concerne un réflecteur acoustique (10) destiné à être utilisé en tant que cible réfléchissante pour des applications d'aide à la navigation et de localisation ou de relocalisation. Ce réflecteur acoustique comprend une coque (12) conçue pour entourer une partie centrale solide (16). Ladite coque est conçue pour transmettre des ondes acoustiques (18) incidentes sur celle-ci dans la partie centrale (16). A l'intérieur de la partie centrale, les ondes acoustiques sont focalisées avant d'être réfléchies à partir d'un côté opposé de la coque (20) afin d'obtenir une onde acoustique réfléchie. Une partie des ondes acoustiques incidentes sur la coque est injectée dans celle-ci et guidée à l'intérieur et autour de la circonférence de celle-ci (26) avant d'être réémise et d'être combinée de manière constructive avec l'onde acoustique réfléchie afin d'obtenir une onde acoustique réfléchie améliorée.
