The digital watermark is a signal permanently embedded into digital data that can be extracted later through computing operations to allow assertions to be made about the data. However, some problems related to the robustness and security of watermarking algorithms in the face of image processing attacks still remain the main challenges facing watermarking technology. This invention aims to achieve high robustness by being adaptive which overcomes the problems identified and satisfies the watermarking requirements. It considers the natural masking characteristics of the host image. This should ensure that the watermark is more reliable and robust to a wide range of signal distortion. Also, it uses explicit models of the HVS as well as feature extraction points. The system attempts to estimate geometric attacks on the watermarked signal prior to watermark extraction. The stability of the proposed system should be high since it is based on a robust feature tracking approach. The proposed algorithms can be divided into four stages. These are feature extraction and segmentation based on extracted feature points and the Voronoi diagram, DWT with parameterization, HVS, and watermarking embedding. The system proposed is evaluated using different type of attacks to demonstrate its robustness when the watermarked image undergoes distortion.
