An adaptive method for channel assignment (500) in a cellular multiple access wireless communication system that has a cell station (100) and a number of subscriber stations (25, 26, 27) augments existing channel assignment protocol and thus is downward compatible with existing time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), code division multiple access (CDM,4), and spatial division multiple access (SDMA) system protocols. The method adaptively determines the power required for establishing an acceptable quality connection between a subscriber station (25) and the cell station (100) and provides an early warning trial signal for advising existing connections that a new connection is about to be established. The early warning, followed by a pause, provides a basis and a time interval for taking corrective interference action if the trial signal indicates that an unacceptable level of interference will result if the trial connection is established. The early warning signal and associated pause are useful for intracellular and intercellular interference management.
L'invention porte sur un procédé adaptatif d'attribution des canaux (500) dans un système de télécommunication sans fils à accès multiples, comportant une station cellulaire (100) et plusieurs postes d'abonnés (25, 26, 27), et permettant de renforcer le protocole existant d'attribution de canaux et donc à compatibilité aval avec les protocoles des systèmes AMRT, AMRF, AMRC et AMRS. Le procédé détermine par une méthode adaptative la puissance requise pour établir une liaison de qualité acceptable entre un poste d'abonné (25) et la station cellulaire (100) et émet un signal test de préannonce avisant les liaisons existantes qu'une nouvelle liaison est sur le point de s'établir. Le signal de préannonce suivi d'une pause fournit une base et un intervalle de temps permettant de prendre des mesures de correction des interférences si le signal test indique que l'établissement de la liaison test provoquera un niveau inacceptable d'interférences. Le signal de préannonce et la pause associée sont donc utiles pour la gestion des interférences intracellulaires et intercellulaires.
