An animated display assembly (10) including a transparent or translucent liquid reservoir (11) which is at least partially filled with a liquid (12) and wherein there is provided production means (52) for producing bubbles in the liquid. Preferably the production means (52) in combination with the liquid is adapted to produce a head of foam on the surface of the liquid.
