An apparatus and method for providing a temporary spread footing for supporting a variety of different vertically extending structures. The apparatus includes a frame with a top and bottom. The frame can have a substantial space or void in between the top and bottom into which weights or devices can be placed. A connection on top of the base removably connects to the structure to be supported. Outriggers could also be used to substantially increase the overturning moment resistance of the base. The outriggers can be removable or retractable so that for transportation, the base has minimum dimensions. The method includes pre-determining the needed weight and overturning moment resistance for a particular application and transporting the base to the site and thereafter adding weight and adjusting outriggers to match the pre-determined needed overturning moment resistance.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé utiles pour former une semelle temporaire supportant diverses structures verticales différentes. L'appareil comporte une armature présentant une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure. L'armature peut comporter un espace ou vide important entre la partie inférieure et la partie supérieure, dans lequel peuvent être placés des poids ou des dispositifs. Un élément de connexion situé au sommet de la base se connecte séparable à la structure à supporter. Des stabilisateurs peuvent également être utilisés pour accroître sensiblement la résistance au moment de renversement de la base. Les stabilisateurs peuvent être amovibles ou rétractables afin que la base présente des dimensions minimales pour le transport. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à déterminer au préalable le poids et la résistance au moment de renversement nécessaires pour une application particulière, transporter la base vers le site, et ensuite ajouter des poids et régler les stabilisateurs pour qu'ils correspondent à la résistance au moment de renversement prédéterminée nécessaire.
