An apparatus for inspecting a tubular, which apparatus comprises electromagnetic radiation emitting means, and sensing means for sensing electromagnetic radiation emitted by said electromagnetic radiation emitting means, the apparatus defining a path along which electromagnetic radiation may travel between the electromagnetic radiation emitting means and the sensing means, the arrangement being such that, in use, the length of said path is caused to vary depending upon the ovality of said tubular, and said sensing means is able to output an electronic signal representative of the length of said path.

L'invention concerne un appareil pour contrôler du matériel tubulaire, comprenant un dispositif d'émission de rayonnement électromagnétique et un dispositif de détection pour détecter le rayonnement électromagnétique émis par le dispositif d'émission.
