An apparatus for monitoring a condition in a film tape feed arrangement for feeding out film tape from a reel of film tape to a projector comprises sensing means for sensing the tension in the film tape between the film tape feed arrangement and the projector. The apparatus further comprises detecting means arranged to detect a condition in the tape feed arrangement whereby the tension sensed by the sensing means exceeds a predetermined value. An indicator means is provided which is responsive to the detector means detecting the condition for providing an indication of the condition to an operator.
