In the apparatus and method for monitoring a vascular access (6) of an extracorporeal circuit (5; 10) of a patient, a control and calculation unit (17) varies a flow rate of a blood pump (9) predisposed to cause blood to circulate in the extracorporeal circuit. The control and calculation unit receives the pressure values in the blood withdrawal line (5) and the blood return line (10) from two pressure sensors (8, 12); the pressure values are a series of different values of the blood flow rate. The control and calculation unit processes the data gathered by means of a mathematical model which describes the variation of pressure in the vascular access as a function of the flow rate, in order to determine the blood flow rate in the vascular access. The invention detects the presence and location of a stenosis at the vascular access of a patient subjected to a hemodialysis treatment.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de surveiller un accès vasculaire (6) d'un circuit extracorporel (5, 10) d'un patient, qui font intervenir une unité de commande et de calcul (17) faisant varier le débit d'une pompe sanguine (9) prédisposée à amener le sang à circuler dans le circuit extracorporel. L'unité de commande et de calcul reçoit des valeurs de pression provenant de deux capteurs de pression (8, 12) dans une ligne de prélèvement (5) de sang et une ligne de retour (10) de sang; les valeurs de pression étant une série de valeurs différentes du débit sanguin. Ladite unité de commande et de calcul traite les données rassemblées au moyen d'un modèle mathématique qui décrit la variation de pression dans l'accès vasculaire en fonction du débit, afin que soit déterminé le débit sanguin dans l'accès vasculaire. L'invention permet de détecter la présence et l'emplacement d'un sténose au niveau de l'accès vasculaire d'un patient soumis à un traitement par hémodialyse.
