The present invention provides an apparatus for disinfecting an endoscope (4) with a disinfecting solution (6), and that minimizes the surface area and air exposure of the disinfecting solution (6). In architecture, the endoscope disinfecting apparatus (10) includes a disinfecting basin (13), an endoscope body section (12), an insertion tube section (11) and a basin lid (14). The disinfecting basin (13) is for disinfecting the air/water and light tube (5) of the endoscope (4). The endoscope body section (12) is for disinfecting a body and eye piece of the endoscope (4), and is connected to the disinfecting basin (13). The insertion tube section (11) is connected to the endoscope body section (12) and is for disinfecting an insertion tube of the endoscope (4). A basin lid (14) connects to the disinfecting basin (13) and provides a watertight seal over the disinfecting basin (13).
