An apparatus (10) for making tiseue (T) is disclosed in which a Yan- kee dryer (12) has a peripheral surface (14) for supporting the tissue (T). A doctor (16) cooperates with the pe- ripheral surface (14) for peeling the tissue (T) away from the peripheral surface (14) such that when the tis- sue (T) is peeled from the surface, a series of microfolds are generated in the resultant tissue. An adjusting mechanism (18) is connnected to the doctor (16) for adjusting an angle (A) defined between the doctor (16) and the peripheral surface (14). The ar- rangement is such that when the an- gle (A) is adjusted, the physical di- mensions of the microfolds change. A sensor (20) is disposed downstream relative to the doctor (16) for sensing the physical dimensions of the micro- folds. A control circuit (22) is electri- cally connected to the sensor (20) and responsive to the sensor (20). The control circuit (22) is electrically connected to the adjusting mechanism (18) for varying the angle (A) of the doctor (16) so that the physical dimensions of the microfolds are optimized.

On décrit un appareil (10), qui permet de fabriquer du papier mousseline (T), où un sécheur frictionneur (12) présente une surface (14) périphérique destinée à supporter ce papier (T). Une raclette (16) coopère avec cette surface (14) périphérique pour en détacher ce papier (T) tout en créant une série de microplis dans le papier ainsi obtenu. Un mécanisme (18) de réglage est relié à la raclette (16) pour régler un angle (A) défini entre celle-ci et la surface (14) périphérique, de façon telle que lorsqu'on règle l'angle (A), les dimensions des microplis changent. Un capteur (20) est disposé en aval de la raclette (16) pour détecter ces dimensions. Un circuit (22) de commande est doté d'une connexion électrique avec le capteur (20), auquel il réagit, et d'une connexion électrique avec le mécanisme (18) de réglage afin de faire varier l'angle (A) de la raclette (16), ce qui permet d'optimiser les dimensions des microplis.
