An apparatus (40) for enhancing blood flow through a limb of a subject includes a compression sleeve (41) extendable around the subject~s limb and having a plurality of compressors (43-48) situated next to one another along the sleeve (41). In use, the compressors (43-48) compress the limb in sequence to move blood within the limb from one end of the sleeve (41) to the other. In particular, as a said compressor (43-48) begins to compress the limb, the compressor (43-48) preceding it in sequence already compresses the limb, and the next preceding compressor (43-48) in sequence ceases to compress the limb.

L~invention a pour objet un appareil (40) permettant d~accroître le débit sanguin dans un membre et comprenant un manchon de compression (41) extensible autour du membre dont une pluralité de compresseurs (43-48) se succèdent sur toute la longueur. Pendant l~utilisation de l~appareil, les compresseurs (43-48) appliquent successivement une pression sur le membre afin d~y déplacer le sang d~une extrémité du manchon (41) à l~autre. Plus particulièrement, lorsqu~un compresseur (43-48) commence à exercer une pression sur le membre, le compresseur (43-48) précédent exerce déjà une pression sur le membre tandis que le compresseur qui précède le compresseur précédent (43-48) cesse de le faire.
