An article of footwear (2) comprises a sole (4, Figure 1), a chamber (6) in the sole (4), an absorbent material (8, Figure 1) in the chamber (6), and non-return valve means (10, Figure 1) which communicates with the chamber (6) and which is adapted to be connected to a pressurised container (12) of a substance used for foot problems, whereby the substance is able to be injected into the chamber (6) and to be absorbed by the absorbent material (8), whereby the absorbent material (8) is able to release the substance during use of the article of footwear (2). A plurality of apertures (28, Figure 1) may be further provided to facilitate the release of the substance from the absorbent material (8) into the footwear (2).
