An improved insulating glass lite assembly having at least two glass lites spaced apart one from the other by an inner peripheral spacer coated by at least one sealant, the glass lites defining therebetween an inner air space; and a communication channel in communication with the inner air space and ambient air, the improvement wherein the communication channel is in communication with a member having walls defining a chamber adapted to receive a moisture absorbent material, the member operably being in communication with the ambient air as to allow of satisfactory rapid pressure equalization between the inner air space and the ambient air. The apparatus allows the interior air space pressure of the insulating glass panel assembly to more rapidly equalize with the exterior atmospheric pressure, which allows the two lites of the assembly to remain parallel, and accordingly reducing the stress on the sealant and glass edge. This not only extends the life of an insulating glass panel assembly, but reduces the risk of premature failure of the assembly. In addition, since the two lites remain parallel, one to the other, this maintains the appearance of the overall assembly. A preferred communication channel is constituted as a breather tube.
