An electrical box assembly is provided that comprises a box portion having a 4 inch trade size height and a cover plate. The box portion has a back wall, a first side wall, a second side wall opposite to the first side wall, a top wall, a bottom wall opposite to the top wall and an open front face. The cover plate is suitable for covering the open front face of the box portion and comprises a base portion, an opening in the base portion for receiving an electrical device and first and second tabs spaced from the base portion. The first and second tabs have first and second apertures respectively for receiving fasteners for mounting the electrical device to the cover plate. The first and second apertures are spaced from one another by a distance of about 3.5 inches. Furthermore, a distance between an outer surface of the top wall and a center of an adjacent one of the first and second apertures is less than about 0.29 inches when the cover plate is secured to the box portion.
