An electronic device having an alterable configuration and methods of manufacturing and configuring the same are provided. The electronic device includes a non-volatile memory storing a boot ROM. The boot ROM is operable, when executed by a processor of the electronic device, to boot a first operating system if available in the non-volatile memory and to boot a second operating system in the non-volatile memory if the first operating system is unavailable in the non-volatile memory when the electronic device is powered up.
Il s'agit d'un dispositif électronique présentant une configuration changeante, et des méthodes de fabrication et de configuration connexes. Ce dispositif électronique comprend une mémoire non volatile contenant une mémoire ROM d'initialisation. Cette mémoire ROM d'initialisation permet, lorsqu'elle est sollicitée par un processeur de dispositif électronique, d'amorcer un premier système d'exploitation, si cette mémoire est disponible dans la mémoire non volatile. Elle permet aussi d'amorcer un second système d'exploitation dans la mémoire non volatile, si le premier système d'exploitation n'est pas disponible dans la mémoire non volatile, à la mise sous tension du dispositif électronique.
