An electrosurgical generator which is operable particularly at UHF or higher frequencies has a circuit for sensing reflected power and a control arrangement coupled to the sensing circuit to cause the frequency of the radio frequency output of the generator to be altered whilst the reflected power is monitored. The output frequency is then set to a value corresponding to a minimum reflected power level.
