An electrosurgical instrument is provided for the treatment of tissue in the presence of an electrically-conductive fluid medium. The instrument comprises an instrument shaft (10), a tissue treatment electrode (12) at one end of the shaft, and removal means, the instrument having an apertured portion (20a) through which matter can be aspirated by the removal means from the region surrounding the tissue treatment electrode. The removal means comprises a channel formed within the instrument shaft (10) and leading from the apertured portion (20a). The channel is provided with agitation means (14) for preventing the build-up of sublimation products within the channel.

L'invention concerne un instrument électrochirurgical destiné au traitement de tissus en présence d'un milieu fluidique électriquement conducteur. L'instrument comprend une tige (10), une électrode (12) de traitement des tissus située à l'une des extrémités de la tige, et un moyen d'ablation, l'instrument ayant une partie ouverte (20a) par laquelle la matière peut être aspirée par le moyen d'ablation de la région entourant l'électrode de traitement des tissus. Le moyen d'ablation comporte un canal, formé à l'intérieur de la tige (10) de l'instrument, qui prend son origine au niveau de la partie ouverte (20a). Le canal est pourvu d'organes (14) agitateurs qui empêchent l'accumulation de produits de sublimation à l'intérieur du canal.
