A building includes a connection between an engineered wood load bearing element of the building such as a column, beam, or load bearing panel, and another load bearing element or a foundation of the building. At least one tendon ties the load bearing elements or the load bearing element and the foundation together. One or more energy dissipaters, replacably connected between the load bearing element and/or the foundation, absorb energy when a loading event causes relative movement of the connection. The engineered wood element maybe a laminated veneer lumber element, a parallel strand lumber element, or a glue laminated timber element, for example. Typically all of the load bearing elements of the building will be engineered wood elements. The building may be single or multi-storey. The building system enables lightweight low cost buildings, with energy dissipaters which may be replaced after extreme loading. The building may be prefabricated
L'invention concerne une construction comprenant une connexion entre un élément porteur de charge en bois technique de la construction comme une colonne, une poutre, ou un panneau porteur de charge, et un autre élément porteur de charge ou une fondation de la construction. Au moins un tendon rattache les éléments porteurs de charge ou l'élément porteur de charge et la fondation. Un ou plusieurs dissipateurs d'énergie, connectés de manière interchangeables entre l'élément porteur de charge et/ou la fondation, absorbent l'énergie lorsqu'un événement de chargement provoque le mouvement relatif de la connexion. L'élément de bois technique peut être un élément de bois d'AEuvre contreplaqué stratifié, un élément de bois d'AEuvre à torons parallèles, ou un élément de bois de charpente stratifié collé, par exemple. Typiquement tous les éléments porteurs de charge de la construction seront des éléments de bois technique. Le bâtiment peut comporter un ou plusieurs étages. Le système de construction permet d'obtenir des bâtiments légers et à peu de frais, avec des dissipateurs d'énergie qui peuvent être remplacés après un chargement extrême.
