A anti-copy programme signal is provided. Copies of the anti-copy video pulses made on a video recorder experience reduced quality and interference in playback making them unpleasant to watch. The uncopied signal can be viewed without any material effect on picture quality. The signal comprises a pulse (28) added to each line (6) of the signal throughout both the visible picture region and throughout the vertical blanking region (12), as well as a first modulated wave-form (34) added to the vertical synchronisation pulses (16) of the signal and a second modulated wave-form (36) added to several lines (6) of the picture signal before the vertical blanking section (12). The presence of all three of these features together has been found to be provide a surprising accumulative effectiveness in causing interference in the reproduction of the modified video signal during playback of the copied video signal, that is greater than the effectiveness provided by the different features taken separately.
La présente invention concerne un signal à programme anti-copie. Les copies des impulsions vidéo anti-copie faite sur un magnétoscope subissent à la reproduction une perte de qualité et des interférences les rendant désagréables à regarder. Le signal non copié peut être visionné sans effet matériel sur la qualité de l'image. Le signal comprend une impulsion (28) ajoutée à chaque ligne (6) du signal dans l'ensemble de la région d'image visible et dans l'ensemble de la région de suppression de ligne (12). Le signal comprend également un premier signal modulé (34) ajouté aux impulsions de synchronisation verticale (16) du signal et un second signal modulé (36) ajouté à plusieurs lignes (6) du signal d'image avant la région de suppression de ligne (12). La présence de ces trois dispositifs réunis s'est avérée constituer une source d'interférences étonnamment puissante pour la reproduction du signal vidéo modifié pendant la reproduction du signal vidéo copié, plus efficace que les différents dispositifs prix séparément.
