A method is provided for conducting a financial transaction by a purchaser with a merchant having an acquirer bank, over a communications network. The method includes the steps of sending a first authorization request using a pseudo account number associated with a real account number to a service provider which forwards a second authorization request to the issuer using the real account number and preferably a pseudo acquirer code associated with the service provider such that the response to the second request is based on the real account number and sent back to the service provider who preferably forwards a response to the first request preferably to the "real" acquirer. A message authentication code is further provided which includes transaction data, and where the authorization request if formatted as a standard payment card track having one or more fields including a discretionary field in which the message authentication code is placed.
L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet à un acheteur d'effectuer une transaction financière avec un commerçant disposant d'un acquéreur, sur un réseau de communications. Le procédé consiste à envoyer, à un prestataire de services, une première demande d'autorisation, avec un pseudo numéro de compte associé à un numéro de compte réel. Ledit prestataire de services transmet une seconde demande d'autorisation à un émetteur utilisant le numéro de compte réel et, de préférence, un pseudo code d'acquéreur associé au prestataire de services. Ainsi, la réponse à la seconde demande, fondée sur le numéro de compte réel, est renvoyée au prestataire de services qui, de préférence, transmet une réponse à la première demande, de préférence à l'acquéreur "réel". Un code d'authentification de message est alors produit; il renferme les données de transaction et la demande d'autorisation formatée en tant que piste de carte de paiement standard ayant au moins un champ comprenant éventuellement un champ dans lequel on place ledit code d'authentification de message.
