A cam actuated retractable burner for an electric range having a removable burner element. In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, a burner assembly (10) is provided with a thermal safety switch assembly, a switch installation assembly (18), a preset thermal switch, a heating element actuator (20), associated control knobs (30) for the heating actuator, a heating element assembly (34), a vessel support assembly (14), and a drip bow (12). The present invention represents an improved method of raising and lowering an electrical element for improved cooking characteristics. The present invention allows the user to obtain radiant heat transfer for more even cooking while still allowing traditional conductive heat transfer cooking.

Dans un mode de réalisation d'exemple, un ensemble brûleur (10) est pourvu d'un thermocontact de sécurité, d'un ensemble de montage de thermocontact (18), d'un thermocontact de préréglage, d'un actionneur d'éléments chauffants (20), de boutons de commande correspondants (30) de l'actionneur d'éléments chauffants, d'un ensemble d'éléments chauffants (34), d'un ensemble de support de récipient (14) et d'une cuvette de propreté (12). La présente invention concerne aussi un procédé amélioré pour faire monter et descendre un élément électrique afin d'améliorer les paramètres de cuisson. La présente invention permet à l'utilisateur d'obtenir un transfert de chaleur par rayonnement pour une cuisson plus régulière en lui laissant cependant la possibilité de continuer à utiliser la cuisson traditionnelle au moyen du transfert de chaleur par conduction.
