An inline switch apparatus for use with a power cord having first and second conductors. The second conductor is severed and the first and second conductors have respective first and second electrical conductors therein. The inline switch apparatus includes a lower housing having first and second opposite internal sides and the first internal side has a holder for holding the first conductor of the power cord. The second internal side has first and second opposed deflectors defining a passage therebetween for receiving opposite ends of the severed second conductor therethrough. The second internal side further includes first and second receptacles adjacent the first and second deflectors respectively. The opposite ends of the severed second conductor are operable to extend around the first and second deflectors respectively for receipt in the first and second receptacles respectively. The apparatus further includes an upper housing operable to mate with the lower housing to cover the opposite ends of the severed second conductor and further includes a switch actuator operable to be supported for rotation between the upper and lower housings and includes a switching conductor operable to cooperate with the switch actuator such that the switch actuator is operable to move the switching conductor. First and second switch contacts are provided on the upper housing and are operable to make electrical contact with the electrical conductors in the opposite ends of the severed second conductor of the power cord and are operable to make and break electrical contact with the switching conductor when the switch actuator is rotated, to selectively electrically connect and disconnect the electrical conductors in the opposite ends of the severed second conductor.
