An improved tire sidewall (12) for a tire (10) has an annular outer surface (11), the annular outer surface (11) having a design pattern having a first pattern (15) and a second pattern (17). The second pattern (17) is superimposed over a portion of ridges (20) of the first pattern (15). The improvement has the ridges (20) of the first pattern (15) within a sidewall sector (13) defined by parallel planes passing through a plane (T) parallel to the equatorial plane of the tire (10) and perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the annular tire sidewall (12) to form lines (21) all having the same slope (x/y). Preferably the ridges (20) have a substantially triangular cross section having an included angle of about 100~ at the apex. The sectors (13A, 13B, 13C and 13D) can be any portion of the tire sidewall (12), preferably the sectors (13) being quadrants, halves, or the whole annular surface (11). The resulting patterns yield a decorative sidewall (12) having unique contrasting light and dark appearance.
Un flanc de pneu amélioré (12) destiné à un pneu (10) comporte une surface externe annulaire (11) présentant un dessin constitué d'un premier motif (15) et d'un second motif (17). Le second motif (17) est surimposé sur une partie des bords (20) du premier motif (15). Dans le flanc de pneu amélioré, les bords (20) du premier motif (15) se trouvent à l'intérieur d'une zone du flanc (13) définie par des plans parallèles passant par un plan (T) parallèle au plan équatorial du pneu (10) et perpendiculaire à l'axe de rotation du flanc annulaire (12), de façon à former des lignes (21) ayant toutes la même inclinaison (x/y). De préférence, les bords (20) ont une section transversale sensiblement triangulaire dont l'angle inclus est d'environ 100· au sommet. Les secteurs (13A, 13B, 13C, 13D) peuvent être n'importe quelle partie du flanc (12), les secteurs (13) étant de préférence des quadrants, des moitiés ou bien la surface annulaire tout entière (11). Les motifs obtenus donnent un flanc décoratif (12) avec un aspect unique contrasté alternativement clair et sombre.
