A data-driven global registry method for use to extend a framework in an object oriented programming (OOP) based computer system is provided. The method includes providing a new class defined in a shared class library which has data members and member functions related to a particular task. In addition, a new class attributes file which specifies attributes associated with the new class is generated. The new class attributes file is placed in a global registry configuration directory in a computer system such that a plurality of client applications can access the global registry configuration directory to determine if the new class has been installed in the class library. In an alternative embodiment, an object-based global registry method is provided. In addition, a storage device readable by a computer system for implementing either OOP-based global registry method and OOP-based global registries themselves are provided.
L'invention porte sur un procédé global d'enregistrement commandé par données servant à l'extension d'un logiciel intégré dans un système d'ordinateur à programmation orientée objets (OPP). Le procédé consiste à constituer une nouvelle classe définie dans une bibliothèque de classes partagée qui présente des éléments de données et des fonctions d'éléments relatives à une tâche particulière. Est également constitué un fichier d'attributs de la nouvelle classe qui définit les attributs associés à ladite nouvelle classe. Ledit fichier est placé dans un répertoire à configuration d'enregistrement globale d'un système d'ordinateurs de manière à ce que les différentes applications clients puissent avoir accès au répertoire à configuration d'enregistrement globale pour déterminer si la nouvelle classe a été installée dans la bibliothèque de classes. Une autre variante porte sur un procédé global d'enregistrement à base objets. L'invention porte en outre sur un dispositif de stockage lisible par ordinateur servant à la mise en oeuvre de l'un ou l'autre des susdits procédés, et sur les registres associés.
