The present invention relates to an oil well pumping apparatus, comprising a power device; a crank arm connected to the power device via a transmission device, said crank arm is rotatable around a fixed axis at one end thereof; a crank counter-weight mounted to the crank arm and spaced from said fixed axis; a walking beam pivotally supported by a bearing and comprising a first part and a second part connected to each other; a walking beam counter-weight mounted to the walking beam; and a link pivotally connected to the crank arm at one end thereof, and pivotally connected to the walking beam at the other end thereof; wherein the centroid of the walking beam counter-weight is offset away from a longitudinal axis of the walking beam
