An overload clutch (2) for a torque transmission is disclosed which comprises a rotatable drive member (4) coaxially coupled to a rotating driven member (6). One of the drive member (4) and driven member (6), hereinafter referred to as the first member, comprises an annular band (8) delimiting a central space (9), the annular band (8) having a cylindrical inner face (10) provided with at least one engaging element (12). The other one of the drive member (4) and driven member (6), hereinafter referred to as the second member, is mounted within the central space (9) and comprises a radially expandable mechanism (14) provided with at least one coupling element (16). The radially expandable mechanism (14) is movable between an expanded position, where the at least one coupling element (16) is positively engaging the at least one engaging element (12) to couple the first member to the second member for rotation together, and a retracted position, where the at least one coupling element (16) is disengaged from the at least one engaging element (12), thereby releasing the first member from the second. A biasing means (20), preferably a pneumatic actuator, is provided for normally resiliently urging the expandable mechanism (14) in the expanded position, and for allowing the same to move to the retracted position when a predetermined torque overload is applied to the torque transmission.

L'invention concerne un limiteur de couple (2) pour une transmission de couple. Ce limiteur de couple (2) comprend un élément d'entraînement rotatif (4) couplé coaxial à un élément entraîné en rotation (6). D'entre ces deux éléments (4) ou (6), l'un, dénommé ci-après premier élément, comprend une bande annulaire (8) délimitant un espace central (9), la bande annulaire (8) comprenant une surface intérieure cylindrique (10) pourvue d'au moins un élément d'embrayage (12). L'autre de ces deux éléments (4) ou (6), dénommé ci-après second élément, est monté dans l'espace central (9) et comprend un mécanisme à déploiement radial (14) pourvu d'au moins un élément de couplage (16). Ce mécanisme à déploiement radial (14) peut basculer entre, d'une part, une position déployée, dans laquelle l'élément de couplage (16) s'embraye positivement sur l'élément d'embrayage (12) afin de coupler le premier élément au second élément de façon qu'ils tournent conjointement et, d'autre part, une position rétractée, dans laquelle l'élément de couplage (16) se débraye de l'élément d'embrayage (12), détachant ainsi le premier élément du second. Un moyen de sollicitation (20), de préférence un actionneur pneumatique, est prévu afin de pousser normalement de manière élastique le mécanisme à déploiement radial (14) vers la position déployée, de façon que ledit mécanisme puisse regagner la position rétractée lorsqu'une surcharge de couple prédéterminée est appliquée sur la transmission de couple.
