A substantially non-toxic fraction isolated from snake venom is disclosed, which fraction has an analgesic effect. The fraction has the characteristics of a fraction from snake venom purified on a Mono Q ion exchange column. Also described are a pharmaceutical composition for use as an analgesic comprising the non-toxic fraction, and a method for the relief of pain comprising administrating the non-toxic fraction.
La présente invention concerne un fraction sensiblement non toxique isolée de venin de serpent, possédant un effet analgésique. Cette fraction possède les caractéristiques d'une fraction de venin de serpent purifiée sur une colonne Mono Q d'échange d'ions. L'invention concerne aussi une composition pharmaceutique destinée à un usage d'analgésique, comprenant la fraction non toxique, ainsi qu'une méthode permettant de soulager la douleur par administration de cette fraction.
