ABSTRACT Apparatus is provided for converting an analog signal to a digital sample format. An analog-to-digital converter is responsive to the analog signal and has a dynamic range less than the dynamic range of the analog signal. Means detect saturated digital samples, corresponding to analog signals exceeding the dynamic range of the converter. Means calculate digital sample values from regularly occurring digital samples proximate the saturated sample. And, means are provided to substitute the calculated sample for the saturated sample.
