ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an analog-to-digital converter for amplitude modulated pulses, two converters are used, each responsive to signals of one sign, and the sign of the signal is determined after conversion by determining which converter has produced an output, so as to avoid errors in sign identification due to sampling tansients. Bits representing the sign and the encoding of the pulses are organised into a desired order using a parallel-in, serial-out register.
