72689-46 ABSTRACT By contacting a sample containing an analytical subject polymer and a low molecular weight substance with an insoluble carrier preliminarily bound with an identical polymer to or a different polymer from the analytical subject polymer to satura- tion, the low molecular weight substance is adsorbed onto the insoluble carrier without adsorbing the analytical subject polymer, whereby the analytical subject polymer can be separated from the low molecular weight substance. By contacting a mixture containing an analytical subject polymer and a low molecular weight substance with an insoluble polymer preliminarily bound with an identical. polymer to or a different polymer from the analytical subject polymer to saturation, and measuring the amount of the low molecular weight substance not adsorbed to the insoluble carrier, the amount of the low molecular weight substance specifically bound to the analytical subject polymer can be assayed, whereby it is determined whether or not the low molecular weight substance is specifically bound to the analytical subject polymer.
