Elle est composée de deux demi-chevilles (11a, 11b) accolées, dont les surfaces en regard (13a, 13b) sont des surfaces hélicoïdales de sens opposé. Les extrémités débordantes des demi-chevilles présentent de ce fait un écartement mutuel par rapport à leurs parties internes comprimées en (19a, 19b) par les pièces (7, 8) assemblées, ce qui assure le blocage de la cheville.
