The invention provides new androstene derivatives having anti-inflammatory activity, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and methods of administering them to warm-blooded animals in the treatment of inflammation. The active compounds are alkyl 17a- dichloroacetoxy-11a-hydroxyandrosta-1,4-dien-3-one-17.beta.-carboxylates and related androstenes.

L'invention concerne de nouveaux dérivés de l'androstène ayant une activité anti-inflammatoire, des compositions pharmaceutiques les contenant, ainsi que des procédés permettant de les administrer à des animaux à sang chaud pour traiter l'inflammation. Les composés actifs sont les alkyl-17 alpha -dichloro-acétoxy-11 beta -hydroxyandrosta-1,4-dièn-3-one-17 beta -carboxylates et les androstènes voisins.
