The present invention provides compositions and methods for promoting the recovery of vascular function in erectile dysfunction associated with vasculopathy by administering a composition comprising a vasoactive prostaglandin and a biocompatible polymer. In preferred embodiments, the prostaglandin composition is a topical composition comprising prostaglandin E1, a biocompatible polymer and a penetration enhancer and the topical composition is applied to the meatus at the tip of the penis. In another embodiment, the invention provides a method for increasing microvascular outgrowth at a targeted arterial segment comprising administering a prostaglandin E1 composition to produce an extracellular prostaglandin E1 concentration of about 1 micromolar to about 10 micromolar adjacent to the targeted arterial segment for about four days.
La présente invention concerne des compositions et des techniques permettant de favoriser la récupération de la fonction vasculaire dans un dysfonctionnement de l'érection associé à une vasculopathie par administration d'une composition comprenant une prostaglandine vaso-active et un polymère biocompatible. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, la composition de prostaglandine est une composition topique comprenant une prostaglandine E¿1?, un polymère biocompatible et un renfort de pénétration et cette composition topique est appliquée au niveau du méat au bout du pénis. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, cette invention concerne une technique permettant d'accroître la croissance microvasculaire au niveau d'un tronçon artériel ciblé qui consiste à administrer une composition de prostaglandine E¿1? de façon à produire une concentration de prostaglandine E¿1? d'environ 10 micromolaires à côté du tronçon artériel ciblé pendant environ quatre jours.
