An image projection arrangement is provided. The arrangement includes a light source assembly for producing a first light beam. A reflective image display system is arranged in the path of the first light beam and has at least one cell for generating an image to be projected. A projection lens system is arranged in the path of a second light beam originating from the image display system for projecting the image produced by the image display system onto a projection screen. Between the light source assembly and the image display system on the one hand, and between this system and the projection lens system on the other hand, a transition from a first to a second medium is provided. This transition occurs at an interface having a normal direction. The first and second media have different refractive indices. The transition is arranged such that one of the first and second light beams is totally reflected by the transition while the other light beam is transmitted by the transition. Between the light source assembly and the image display system on the one hand, and between this system and the projection lens system on the other and, an angle is formed, the bisector of this angle defining an optic axis of the system. The bisector of the angle is not parallel to the interface normal.

L'invention concerne un dispositif de projection d'image. Ce dispositif comprend un ensemble source lumineuse destiné à générer un premier faisceau lumineux. Un système d'affichage d'image réfléchie est placé dans la trajectoire du premier faisceau lumineux et possède au moins une cellule permettant de générer une image devant être projetée. Un système de lentille de projection est placé dans la trajectoire d'un second faisceau lumineux provenant du système d'affichage de façon à projeter l'image, générée par le système d'affichage, sur un écran de projection. L'ensemble source lumineuse et le système d'affichage, d'un côté, et ce système et le système de lentille de projection, de l'autre côté, forment une région de transition d'un premier à un second support. Cette région de transition se forme au niveau d'une interface ayant un sens perpendiculaire. Les premier et second supports ont des indices de réfraction différents. La région de transition permet la réflexion totale de l'un des premier et second faisceaux lumineux tandis qu'elle transmet l'autre faisceau lumineux.
