ABSTRACT Animal Bedding Material This invention provides for the bedding of animals, including chickens, on litter consisting of a layer of short strips or pieces of absorbent non-toxic paper. The paper, for example in the form of newspaper sheets, is shredded and the shreds are then cut into short strips or small 'diced' pieces which are used as the bedding material and which have a size distribution such that the pieces congeal and form a surface crust or cake at an early stage of use and subsequently break up to form a readily friable material. The layer may take the form of a 'top dressing' covering an existing bedding material to extend its useful life.
