An animal rumen-resistant feed supplement in the solid form, said feed supplement comprising at least one methionine derivative and a porous carrier material wherein (a) said methionine derivative is selected from the group consisting of liquid and solid esters of the 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio) butanoic acid, with the proviso that solid esters have a melting point of 100~C at most; the 2-amino-4-methylthiobutanamide and the 2- hydroxy-4- methylthiobutanamide, (b ) said methionine derivative accounts for at least 20% and up to 70% by weight of the feed supplement and (c) said supplement is in the form of particles having a size range of from 80 to 600 microns.

L'invention porte sur un complément alimentaire résistant à la dégradation ruminale des animaux et se présentant sous forme solide. Ce complément alimentaire comprend au moins un dérivé de méthionine et un matériau de support poreux. Selon cette invention, (a) on sélectionne un dérivé de méthionine dans le groupe comprenant des esters liquides et solides de l'acide 2-hydroxy-4-(méthylthio) butanoïque, à condition que les esters solides aient un point de fusion de 100 ·C maximum; 2-amino-4-méthylthiobutanamide et 2- hydroxy-4-méthylthiobutanamide ; (b ) le dérivé de méthionine présente au moins 20 % et jusqu'à 70 % en poids du complément alimentaire et (c) ce complément se présente sous la forme de particules dont la grosseur est comprise entre 80 et 600 microns.
