The invention relates to a non-human animal which can be used as an experimental neurodegenerative disease model. The inventive animal model has an alteration in the biological activity of the receptor of trophic factor IGF- I in the cells of the epithelium of the choroid plexus of the cerebral ventricles. The animal model can be obtained using a transgenesis process. Said animal model can be used to study the etiopathogenic mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, including those associated with dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease, or to identify and assess therapeutic compounds intended to combat said diseases.

L'invention concerne un modèle animal non humain pouvant être utilisé comme modèle expérimental de maladies neurodégénératives. Ce modèle animal présente une altération au niveau de l'activité biologique du récepteur du facteur trophique IGF-I dans les cellules épithéliales du plexus choroïde des ventricules cérébraux. Ledit modèle animal peut être obtenu sur la base d'un processus de transgenèse. Ce modèle peut être utilisé pour l'étude des mécanismes étiopathogéniques de maladies neurodégénératives, telles que celles induisant une démence, comme la maladie d'Alzheimer, ou pour l'identification et l'évaluation de composés thérapeutiques par rapport auxdites maladies.
