An animal restraint system for use during the transportation of animals comprising a region in which an animal is confined, one or more inflatable restraining means located within the region, at least one regulator for selectively increasing and/or decreasing the size of the one or more restraining means, and wherein a preselected value of inflation or deflation of the restraining means is maintained by the regulator.
