The device proposed has, in the entry zone, an entrance gate and two animal-identification systems. Animal-identification system keeps the entrance gate open as long as animals with the same characteristics are identified. If an animal with different characteristics is detected, the entrance gate is closed. The sorting switch is switched by animal-identification system into a position corresponding to the characteristics detected. The entrance gate subsequently stays open until another change in characteristics is detected by animal-identification system. Thus, when groups of animals with the same identifying characteristics are passing through, the throughput is higher since the entrance gate does not have to be closed after every animal.

L'invention concerne un dispositif qui comporte, dans sa zone d'entrée (1), un portillon (2) et deux systèmes d'identification (3 et 4). Le système d'identification (4) maintient le portillon (2) ouvert tant que des animaux présentant des caractéristiques identiques sont identifiés. Au moment où un animal présentant d'autres caractéristiques est détecté, le portillon (2) se ferme. Le système d'identification (3) amène le dispositif d'aiguillage servant à trier les animaux (5) dans une position correspondant aux caractéristiques identifiées. Le portillon (2) reste ensuite ouvert jusqu'à ce que le système d'identification (4) indique un nouveau changement de caractéristiques. Ce dispositif permet d'atteindre un plus grand débit lors du passage de groupes d'animaux présentant les mêmes caractéristiques d'identification, du fait que le portillon (2) ne se ferme pas après le passage de chacun des animaux.
