Humane, live animal traps are usually difficult to set and/or blend into an environment which the particular animal being trapped has become accustomed to. The present device consists of box, cage-like device which is hinged on the base. All that portion shave the base where lifted open leaves the animal with a spacious non threatening entry. The bottom of the trap,(the base) has welded to it solidly, a vertical post that extends up from in between the hinges to the top portion of the trap. At the top of this post a hinged latch is attached which will serve two functions with the primary function of engaging with an adjustable pin situated in a block welded solidly to the top portion of the trap. When the trap is opened to engage the latch and the pin, the trap will remain open. The method of disengaging the latch and the pin consists of a lever that is situated near to the pin and operated in such a way as to lift the latch up and over the pin when the lever that extends down to within reach of the animal is moved, in the present traps them are two types of levers that can be used. The one lever incorporated now into the trap activates the trigger by a push or pull action from one direction. A second fever that can be incorporated into the same trap world activate the trigger by a push or pull action from any direction. The first lever or the second lever can both be used in the trap to accommodate different applications or animals. Once the trigger has been activated the uniquely constructed top portion of the trap utilizes and maximizes the benifits of gravity to close down over the animals to rest on the base. Now the latch performs it's secondary function which involves dropping down to lock and maintain the trap in a closed position. In maintaining the ingenuity and integrity of that for which this trap is intended, it must be pointed out that if by some remote chance a second animal has not completely entered the trap when it is activated to be closed by the first, the latch will not perform it's purpose until this animal is completely in or out of captivity. The trap is not intended to hurt, maim or kill an animal by being squeezed or strangled between the walls of the top part of the cage and the base.
