ABSTRACT The invention is concerned with novel anisomycin derivatives having the general formula: (I) Image wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group of 1-18 carbon atoms, and X represents a carbamoyl group of the formula -CONR1R2 in which R1 and R2 are the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or cyclic alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted, or a phenyl group which is optionally substituted, or X represents an alkyl group of the formula -CH2R3 in which R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms or an alkoxy group of 1-6 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. The anisomycin derivatives according to the invention are stable in the body and have strong cytotoxicity. They are useful as anticancer agents, antifungal agents and antiprotozoan agent.
