An ankle support system to protect against ankle injuries. The ankle support system includes a leg brace encircling the leg of the wearer immediately above the footwear and a fastening projection for attaching the leg brace to the vamp of the footwear. The fastening projection is retained to an anchoring component placed on the inner surface of the vamp. The invention also provides an ankle orthotic device for dropped foot condition.
