2030788 9010735 PCTABS00002 An anode for electrowinning a metal from a molten salt electrolyte comprises an electroconductive oxycompound substrate which in use carries a surface coating comprising at least one rare earth oxycompound. The substrate comprises a sintered body composed of a nickel-copper-lithium oxide solid solution, wherein the solid solution preferably contains 70-90 mol % nickel oxide, 5-29 mol % copper oxide and 1-10 mol % lithium oxide.
