The present invention relates to a new class of G-protein-coupled receptor antagonists which bind to the intracellular molecular interface between the receptor and the G-protein, thus hampering signal transduction. The present invention describes peptide sequences derived from the prostaglandin receptor F2.alpha. and the G-protein, G.alpha.q protein, produced by molecular biology techniques or chemical synthesis, as selective inhibitors of signal transduction involved in the stimulation of this receptor. Such peptides or molecules derived from their primary, secondary and tertiary structures may be used as effective tocolytics for the prevention of premature labor or be utilized for the treatment of dysmenorrhea.

La présente invention concerne une nouvelle classe d'antagonistes du récepteur couplé à la protéine G, qui se fixent sur l'interface moléculaire intracellulaire entre le récepteur et la protéine G, entravant ainsi la transduction des signaux. La présente invention décrit des séquences peptidiques dérivées du récepteur F¿2.alpha.? de la prostaglandine et de la protéine G, la protéine G¿.alpha.q?, produites par des techniques de biologie moléculaire ou par synthèse chimique, et utilisées comme inhibiteurs sélectifs de la transduction des signaux intervenant dans la stimulation de ce récepteur. Ces peptides ou molécules dérivés de leurs structures primaires, secondaires et tertiaires peuvent s'utiliser comme agents tocolytiques efficaces pour la prévention d'un accouchement prématuré ou bien s'utiliser pour le traitement de la dysménorrhée.
