Additives for drilling fluids, in particular for water-based drilling fluids are described which when added to the fluid at levels of up to 10 % weight by volume reduces the accretion and bit-balling tendencies of shale cuttings exposed to said fluids. The additives are based on phosphonate chemistry, and are of the general class (I), wherein R, R' and R" are radicals exclusively containing H atoms or combinations of H, C, O or P atoms up to a maximum of 100 atoms.

L'invention concerne des additifs pour boues de forage, ces additifs étant destinés en particulier à des boues de forage à base d'eau. Une fois ajoutés à ces boues à un niveau pouvant atteindre 10 % en poids volumétrique, ces additifs permettent de réduire la tendance à l'accrétion des déblais de forage de schiste argileux exposés audites boues de forage, et de réduire l'embourbage du trépan provoqué par ces déblais. Ces additifs, qui sont formulés à base de phosphonate, sont de classe générale (I), dans laquelle R, R', et R'' représentent des radicaux renfermant exclusivement des atomes H ou des combinaison d'atomes H, C, O, ou P, le nombre maximum de ces atomes étant de 100.
